An artist named Sivaraman attempted to break the Guinness World Record by making possibly the largest portrait of the ‘father of the nation,’ Mahatma Gandhi.
Belonging to the arts faculty of the Hindustan International School in the city’s Guindy area, he attempted to make a 185.8 square metre portrait of Gandhi with coffee powder. The aim with which he started this painting was to promote patriotism for the country, especially on the 74th Independence Day.
In his portrait, there are not one, but 74 faces of the great man.
Sivaraman started well on time at 6:15 am on the morning of August 14 and was done with the portrait 22.35 hours later, at 4:50 am on August 15 morning.
